The Scholastic Book Fair will be held Monday, October 17th through Friday, October 21st. You can shop daily from 8:20 am until 2:00 pm. Our class is scheduled to visit the Book Fair on Monday, October 17th at 10:40 am. If your child plans to buy items at the fair on Monday, please send the money in a sealed envelope to prevent loss.
If you are unable to attend the Book Fair, you can shop online at scholastic.com/fair. Online shopping is open from Sunday, October 16th until October 30th.

Figurative language is a piece of cake!
Figurative language is a powerful tool that third graders are learning to use to make their conversations and writing more interesting and fun. Figurative language is language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation, or actual words. Often, it is meant to provide mental pictures for the reader or listener and describes something by comparing it to something else. It includes idioms, metaphors, and similes. For example, our study of figurative language has caused us to hit the books. And, we've discovered that figurative language is a piece of cake!
